Sequencer Slashing
This section covers the slashing of the sequencer bond for your RollApp. The sequencer slash is a crucial component in the Dymension ecosystem, serving as a security and enforcement mechanism promoting reliability and deterring malicious actions by sequencers.
Through slashing, penalties are applied to sequencers who violate security or liveness protocols, ensuring network security and maintaining the integrity of the RollApp ecosystem.
When a sequencer commits a fraud or fails to maintain liveness, a slash may be applied, reducing their bonded tokens. The slashed tokens are either burned or partially rewarded to the fraud prover.
Category | Action | Penalty |
---|---|---|
Safety | - Invalid state transitions - Double signing - Light client header mismatch with corresponding block submitted to Dymension | 100% bond slashed, sequencer unbonded |
Liveness | Failure to submit blocks over time | After 7,200 blocks (i.e. 12 hours) of inactivity, a sequencer’s bond will be slashed every hour by the greater of 1% of the bond or 1 DYM. |
